NW Kansas | In a four county area around here we have had an average of one call per day for the last fourteen days. I know of two combines lost other than that just stubble fires. We were dragging a nurse tank with water around with us until the colder weather. We stopped harvesting one afternoon because of the wind. It is as dry as most can remember for this time of year. We are just one giant tinder box waiting for something to start it. Had a call last night at 1 am for wheat stubble burning. Suspect it was someone lighting fireworks off. Had reports of possible fireworks around 12:30 am. | |
