Couple questions. How could the machine be running if he was outside, on the ground? Why would the bear run back into the machine instead of cover. Kinda the opposite of animals instinct.

This is how I understand what happened. The guy who made the post on Red Power was driving a tractor pulling a wagon alongside the chopper. As the chopper neared the end of the rows of the last corn standing in the field, the bear was running forward between some rows ahead of the chopper. As the chopper was very near the end of the rows, the tractor operator stopped and jumped to the ground to make picture of the bear as it burst out of the remaining very small area of standing corn. The chopper operator stopped as he reached end of the rows. Chopper operator stayed in the cab. Bear was probably a young one born last spring as the size of the foot appears small in relation to the size of the bolt heads seen beside it. Bear was startled from suddenly being in the open and it looked for cover. Closest thing was beneath the wide header of the machine. Ran to it but did not make it under it. End of bear.
