NNW Nebraska | I carry a water fire extinguisher on the baler. And some antifreeze jugs full of water in the twine boxes.
Had a gallon of water save my 568, baling stalks. Plugged it up, slip clutch slipped & dry crap up around the gear box lit up.
Carry a inferred thermometer don't need to be a expensive one, you are looking for the difference between say 100° and 250+°. Compare them to the other side. If they are near 250°, dang sure time to replace the bearings.
Can feel of them, but that is a good way to burn your hand.
once in a while open the gate & scan the bearings. Most of the bearings I have had go out, over the years, different balers, I smelled it before it flamed. Slightest wiff and I have the thermometer out
