I too think this would be a good insurance policy. I've heard there are ones that can record rearview as well, but I'd like something simple that can be moved from car to pickup, to big truck.
I wouldn't be worried about filling the memory card. I think any half decent one would loop so it just rewrites the oldest video. If an incident does happen, then you pull the card and save it.
