 n.c.iowa | After a couple more days go out into the worst spot and reach into the whorl and pull out the growing point. If it's brown and mushy the plant is screwed...
Sometimes it's easier to cut or pull a plant and slit it lengthwise to expose the growing point.
In either case if it's brown and mushy the plant is dead for all practical purposes.
Not to be a debbie downer, but it looks like the whorl got loaded up and is dead. | |
