The guys that need it the most are not getting diddly.
Those who sold brawlers last fall needed some help the most. Them $600 to $700 heifer calves and $800 steers didn't pay many bills last fall.
Thought that was only down here they were that cheap, that's right where mine priced. If I would have waited until Jan or Feb I would have made easily $75-$100 more and qualified for a few hundred more from daddy Gov. apparently. I use $700/calf avg. in all my projections and thought that was plenty low but may not have been. Could still expand with a $700 avg but not much less. |
