If you get on in time, and have adequate rainfall afterwards I see no reason why there would be a yield drag to top dressing. Any drag probably comes from waiting too long, the starter or preplant N begins to run out, or there's insufficient rain after the fact to move the N into the soil profile.
How long can I wait to side dress this corn?
