Check every so often the exhaust is not restricted, that will create excessive heat
+1. Clothes dry slowly, and they'll feel incredibly hot if you check them halfway through.
Dryers shouldn't be trusted to run unattended. I've done it, though.
There's a considerable difference in dryer sophistication. I've been inside one or two that had a single over-temp cutout. I was inside one recently that had at least three different temperature cutouts wired into the system. I'd trust that dryer a lot more than the simpler ones.
Another thing, is it's always worth inspecting your dryer vent. The ultimate, is to place the dryer on an exterior wall, and use a single piece of hard metal tubing, going straight from the dryer outlet to the outdoors. Don't install any screen over the outlet. If plumbed this way, your chances of a dryer fire are nearly zilch. |
