The first weight you lose is the most health improvement. By getting rid of the waist line you likely got rid of a fatty liver. Subcutaneous fat is not that unhealthy. That is the fat under the skin that acts as a protective cushion and as energy storage for a time we are without food. It is the fat in and around our internal organs that is the dangerous fat. The body knows this and it is the first fat to get utilized during weight loss. So massive health improvements can be had with even modest weight loss. And the easiest way to lose weight is to quit eating as much of the stuff that causes insulin to rise. High insulin levels equals the body saying "store excess energy as fat". What causes insulin to rise the most? Carbohydrates and especially eating them too often throughout the day so insulin levels never have a chance to get low. Excessive carbohydrates (highly processed carbohydrate foods are almost like eating pure sugar) and snacking throughout the day are the cause of modern obesity and insulin resistance leading to diabetes.
