South Central MN | I'd bet the number of potential pandemic causing viruses just waiting for that chance to jump from animals to humans is staggering, and doesn't really take much either. The next one could be a real killer, imagine if this thing had a 75%+ mortality rate! Best suggestion would be to put some real effort into figuring out what animals are most likely to transfer a given disease to humans, and to start figuring out a cure/vaccine for it now rather than later. Obviously going to take a massive pile of money but so does burying a bunch of dead people.
Edit: Not sure how well a broad spectrum anti-viral works but never hurts to figure out that route either.
