The reason bats are the likely carrier is because bats are mammals. They are mammals yet they have a very good immune system because of their ability to fly which means these diseases cannot effect them. Bats are also know to carry 61 zoonotic viruses, which are viruses that can infect humans. The reason thats a problem is because they are like humans and congregate in large numbers which means that a virus can spread rapidly just as covid19 has in humans.
