Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | Here's how to move a wire and change the configuration slightly to use Ag Leaders preferred approach.
The boom sections pins on the Liquid Product Module go in order so the Pin number matches the section number. Right now you should have pins in locations 1-7 on the Boom connector on the Liquid Product Control Module. Remove the pin from location #7 and insert it into pin location #11 if your fence line tip is on the left or pin location #12 if your fence line type is on the right. Putting the tip on the right might make the wiring layout smoother but you could use the left if you ran wires to that end. The assumption is that fence line tips feed from the outer sections. The first real section will be section #1 as it would be with or without a left fence line tip. This means that you can still think of your sprayer as a 6 section sprayer where you normally use Sections 1-6 as you would without a fence line tip. This would be the way I would prefer.
You will need to change the configuration slightly to inform the system that you will be using a fence line tip. Bring up the configuration that you have and hit the wrench on the Operating Configuration Selection. This should bring up the Configuration setup page. Push the Auxiliary Input box. The should bring up a chart showing which switches control what. By default it will likely show F1 Master as channel On/Off, F2 is Boom 1, F3 is Boom 2 etc through F7 for Boom 6. This is fine. You will want to get Left Fence Row or Right Fence Row in the box beside the switch you plan on using for the fence line tip.
If you have the 10 section boom box you would have switches F8-F11 available (actually it would be possible to use another separate switch wired to the brown connector which would then be E1-E4). I see no good reason to go that route. Just use one of the extra switches on the switchbox. Most of the customers I worked with chose F11 so the Master was on the left, the six actual boom sections were next but the fenceline tip was on the switch farthest to the right which keeps it out of the way of the other switches. Normally it would be Off.
To get the correct fenceline assigned to the switch that you desire, push the Assign box. Another screen comes up that will allow you to change the switch location assignments. Since F1-F7 are fine leave them alone. Look at this screen before you start punching away. This screen is telling you some of the same information as the previous screen in another way. Across the top you will likely see Master and Booms 1-6 without Xs. This means they have been assigned to do something. Booms 7-10 likely have an X in the upper right corner. This means they have not been assigned to do anything. If you look in the center of the screen you will likely see Controller On/Off and the Boom Sections 1-6 with a picture of chain links below. That means those sections have been assigned to switches which you saw on the previous screen. The left and right fence line boxes show the chain but with a broken link. This is telling you that neither has been assigned to a switch.
Push the switch number that you wish to assign to the fence line tip. I would suggest #10. Then push either Left or Right fence Row depending on which side you are going to use. Notice the link changes from a broken link to a connected link. The ? box will review what the various indications mean. If you now push the green check mark you will be shown the Auxiliary Input screen that you saw before but it should now show the switch that you have chosen and the correct Fence line row beside it.
In normal operation, you would have the Master and Sections 1-6 On so they would spray unless auto swath decides to shut some off. When you are spraying along the fence line flipping On the switch you just assigned for the fence line will cause the trigger wire for the fence line tip to go hot and open the valve. This will happen only if the outer sections that it is assumed to be fed from is On. The screen depiction will show the boom as usual but when a fence line tip is On, a small triangle will appear on that end of the boom to inform you that the fence line tip is On.
No width is associated with the fence line tip. Since the fence line tip is fed from the outer section, the spray going to the fence line tip is robbed off of the rest of the boom. This would result in a slight reduction in actual application which is typically negligible. I know of some operators who use a slightly higher rate on the first pass anyway.
Generally the fence line tips are a common miniature solenoid or plunger type. That style would only need the repinned wire and ground. It sounds as if yours are a ball type which will require constant power, constant ground and the repinned wire.
