One pound of Manganese sulphate will be going on every acre. I told them to do it this spring and last fall but the dealer never stocked it for them.

One pound dry an acre? Is that enough?

I often get reccomendations for 50 pounds or more.

Yes Paul, The Least amount of Manganese Sulfate that I have recommended is 20 Pounds per acre Rate. Depending on the situation, C.E.C., O.M. and Soil Life, Drainage factors!
I have recommended at times up to 100 Lbs Per acre of Manganese sulfate.
On High Quality Alfalfa Hay Fields, This season We made 2 Applications, 50 Lbs each of Manganese Sulfate along with the Boron and Zinc, K and P plus Sulfate
