Dallas Center IA 515-720-2463 | Easy job! Done it many times.
Jack up wheel. NOTE: Sometimes the tranny will be out of Park. Do a good job of blocking the other wheel and also at least one front with good chunks of lumber, at least 4 x 4
Rotate wheel until the bumps of the rib you want to use are at the bottom. - Put the tranny in PARK.
Remove all the rim holding bolts and the cast deal except the two at the very top. But loosen those two, half a nut on the bolt.
Pull or push the lower part of the rim/tire in or out to get the new rib in postion.
See where the bumps are.
You will probably have to slide the rim a bit on the top bolts. A little Panther Pee will make the rim slide easy.
Put a cast block and bolt in the bottom on the new rib. {wheel will be cock eyed]
Then another cast block and bolt on the bottom.
Half way tighten them up.
Take the tranny out of Park and hand turn the wheel 1/2 turn.
Put the tranny back in Park.
Remove the two cast blocks that are still on the old rib.
Swing the lower rim/tire to the new rib. Put the cast blocks and bolts back.
Starting beside the lower ones put the rest of the cast blocks and bolts in.
Best to take it out of Park, unless you like climbing in and out of the cab.
You will get the most room at the bottom, so turn the wheel so the one you want to put in next is on the bottom.
Keep the bolts loose.
All castings and bolts in place, time to tighten them up.
I prefer to do it by hand. Much easier to keep them even. But not to tight.
let the impact do the mean work.
