SO. IL. | The hay market here in Southern Illinois is pretty bad. The combination of horses not being worth anything and the failing economy has hit me hard. It's tuff to get more then 3.50 for 1st cut, 4 for 2nd and 4.50 for third around here. I've had a hell of a time with weeds, weevils and leaf hoppers not to mention the fact that the weather has me one cutting behind. I just took 2nd cutting friday. I dropped my timothy patch from 17 acres to 7. I've only mowed half of that. Figured there wasnt any use mowing and baling if I didnt have it sold. I still have 52 rounds of timothy left from last year. Its been a tough year to say the least. I hope 2010 is better! | |
