Brian,

I have gone as much as 5 gals. of nitrogen with a glyphosate application without doing much burning. (of course I wouldn't want to do this with hot dry weather forecast) The method to my madness at that time was to jumpstart the beans on ground that had never had grown beans before. They ended up making 55 bu. I would certainly think that you could do the same but this time to "fry" slugs without any adverse effects on the beans.
