Southeast Colorado | Isn't it kind of sad though that the system has to be so complicated it can be handled so many different ways? My daughter is a social services employee who has to deal with a lot of this stuff when folks go into a nursing home. People who didn't follow the proper technique have to sell off their belongings before the State kicks in to pay their bill. Other folks manage to pass on their wealth thanks to proper planning. I understand it...........but can't help but think that overall it's a silly system for the need to legally set your self up to pass on wealth. Frankly in both scenarios the families lived the same way and made a living the same way but because of a few legal documents towards the end it completely separates their financial outcome. Oh well......guess no one really asked my opinion. | |
