that is probably true but the beacon does not rely on input from satellites, at least that is my understanding of the system. I believe it is simply a radio signal broadcast at a specific frequency. hey i have been totally wrong about alot of things so ...


Beacon requires the basic satellite information (GPS) like any of the other correction systems (WAAS, Omnistar, TerraStar, RTK etc.) . Like these other correction systems its purpose is to "correct" or fine tune the information from the GPS satellites. Without the GPS satellites, Beacon nor any of the other correction schemes would provide your location.
