Virginia | We added a fall herd a couple years ago, so bull stays with each herd half the year. It's rare that anything not a heifer comes up open, though there's usually a couple late ones. But they are never the same ones so go figure. If they're late enough they move to the other herd. Pretty similar to other responses.
This year I started keeping some good records and notes and thought I would cull much more aggressively. But looking at what pound cows are bringing here in dairy country, some of these girls are getting a second chance. We'll see what happens.
