NW, MO SW, IA Central MO when I feel like it
The best is have a fall and spring herd maybe 60 day calving in spring and 45 day fall season. Those even load lots top the market and it is better to get all you can grouped together.

Not only that but if it takes more than a year for a cow to calve, she is costing you extra in feed cost. Add this to a lighter calf at weaning that will get discounted and you can’t afford to keep her.

Like I said the compromise is adding another calving season so both get what they want. Those late springs/opens go to fall and get a second chance and allows better management of the group. But once a cow rolls once she needs to leave.
