Not only that but if it takes more than a year for a cow to calve, she is costing you extra in feed cost. Add this to a lighter calf at weaning that will get discounted and you can’t afford to keep her.
Like I said the compromise is adding another calving season so both get what they want. Those late springs/opens go to fall and get a second chance and allows better management of the group. But once a cow rolls once she needs to leave. | |
