When you create a boundary at some point it asks where you want to measure it from. Default is the center of the cab, but you can tell it X' left or right of center. That could account for the acre difference you're seeing.
As to why the applied liquid is correct, the auto swath might be set to do nothing different outside of a boundary vs turn off.
