Central PA | Early research in Pennsylvania indicates that the cover crop does has little effect on cash crop yields when the cover is interseeded in the V4-V6 stage. It's harder to determine under what conditions conditions the cover crop will survive. Long-season corn, high populations and a high yield environment seems to result in too much shading and the cover doesn't always make it. The results are more predictable with shorter season corn, lower pops and a lower yield environment. | |
