figured it out finally...little boy from India had to help me
the 7780 HP has two install modes which I don't remember.. you choose wire/ethernet or USB...when I initially installed it I automatically went USB as that's what I had hooked up. He did a quick uninstall of that portion and installed wired and poof.... up and going. Thanks guys
