| I'm not involved in anything to do with Cotton.. other than considering planting it.. Cough.. Cough.. Ka Ching.. Tell me again the seed costs? $400 and you have to spray it? a couple times.. what will it yield? well if it doesn't freeze first... it'll do pretty good.. kind of risky.. Can I insure it? First year will be a T yield.. not much.. When do I get Paid? uhm.. it could be awhile.. have to harvest it.. gin it.. then they bid on it but there's a pool price.. probably in a couple of months..
Can I get a loan on it? ???
So you're saying I'll be well into the 2nd years production costs before a see a dime from the first year..?? pretty much.. yep. But guys have done pretty good so far..
Lots of talk about the need for more ginning capacity.. Some are trucking to Oklahoma for more capacity.. but so far.. I'm not aware that anyone is breaking ground on a new plant.
but I expect acres to be higher next year.. and golly.. maybe we even try some.. neighbors dryland was well over 1,000 lbs.. pushing 1300..?? way better than the irrigated corn..
...
Then again I could just buy a lottery ticket.. similar odds...?? beat head here..
No I think it's got a real place.. just takes $$$.. production costs are a financial black hole.. but someday.. a return.
Golly we got a full on blizzard out here right now.. imagine if we would have actually had a few more inches.. went by two parked combines sitting next to uncut sorghum fields..
