Driftless SW Wisconsin

I've had good luck fenceline weaning my Herefords. Coming out of the corral, cows go to one side, calves to another side of a 5 wire barb wire fence with middle smooth wire hot.

There are a couple gates where they can rub noses through the gates.  It seems like if they can see the calves everything is ok. Both sides tend to quiet down in a couple days. I think a cow with a full udder is the main problem. When they start to dry up things get quieter.  Some cows have self weaned by the time I wean them.  Important to keep enough for both cows and calves to eat on both sides of the fence.
