Le Sueur VIA St.Thomas | Steve,
I use the backup/restore apps that come w/ xp and vista. At home, I use vista and a back up to a second internal HDD. At work, I use XP and back up to network attached storage.
It's pretty simple; You can use the 'wizard' and can choose different types of backups (selective, incremental, full). I do daily incremental and monthly full backups. Unfortunately, there is a bit of a catch; you have to create the backupes properly- You need to create as administrator, have a passwork associated with your login, or disabling that setting. Once you get it set, it's great and free!
Then there's fire protection, which would require remote backup. With my network attached storage, I would love to have that located in a nearby building, connected via ethernet. I don't have a nearby building to do this tho...
good luck -jim | |
