Subject: RE: Low Hour John Deere 4255

I live about 2 hours away from Kevin in upstate NY and have had dealings with him; although I will say he's very full of himself and arrogant, but my father and I did buy 2 nice tractors from him over the years, a 4450 & traded it back to him a few years later for a mint low houred 4755 ( we still have to this day). When we first got to know him in a he late '90s and went to his place the first time, he definitely tried passing off lesser quality than we like, but after he figured out how fussy we are, he then found us a really nice 4450 outta Michigan and gave us the original owners number to talk to him. It was all legit and top quality;ran it for 2 years, loved it, but wanted bigger, we then spotted a 4755 he had & looked at it, then traded. 4755 was & is a beauty.
Later in years we were looking for an extra 4240 to have around, he had one advertised and I called him on it, Kevin gave me the same lines he gave me on the others..."it's a really nice one owner tractor". We went out to look at it and he didn't lie about it being a one owner, it was our neighbors, he bought at his auction, and there's a reason we didn't goto the auction, it was a junker and not taken care of overly well. I called him out on it and acted somewhat sheepish and tried talking his way out of it in his typical arrogant manor. Now one would think, I've bought 2 mint tractors from him before, he should know my standards and not waste my time of having me drive 2 hours to look at junk. Bottom line is, glad I didn't wire him money, trust no one, and look before you buy. Not that you need to hear this again.
Later in years I tried having him locate me an 8300 with the understanding he'd buy it, have it hauled in and give me right to refusal if quality wasn't there & if I bought it, I agreed to pay the trucking + 2000 on top of his auction purchase price for the risk he incurred; he found and bought one from Iowa, then tried getting me to wire him money immediately & I said that's not what we agreed on & that you were gonna get it here first. He tried turning it around that if I wanted to do that he'd need 5000 not 2000, I tried negotiating with him over 2 weeks and made him an offer splitting the difference and waited 2 weeks to hear from him to see if he'd do it, well when he called me back 2 weeks later to say that he would, I wouldn't, b/c we found a beautiful lower houred, local one owner 8300 and bought it. Boy was he mad when I told him to stick it and tried turning it all around that it was my fault he's now stuck with the tractor "he bought for me". Needless to say, we haven't spoke since and that was 5 years ago. Figured I'd add to the reply of "Kevin dealings".
