Subject: RE: Problems with Radar Speed to Raven

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
Yes, we have in effect tried this also. Raven makes a cable that essentially tee's into the signal wire right at the radar gun. This cable has been used for some time on older Deere tractors/sprayers and has always done the job.
It is more difficult to work with as it needs to be routed into the cab so we generally go with the incab connection when possible.

We tried this cable as a last resort option with a 9X20 track tractor where the corner post connection was not reliable. The operator reported the same problem with this connection.

One Deere Tech person speculated that with the new dual beam radar there are two signals produced and the tractor dash switches between them. The connection is the standard 4 pole square weatherpak where only three wires are used. They are power in, ground in and signal out.

I don't understand how two outputs can be produced with only the single output wire.

It would be interesting to try another brand of radar in these tractors to see if the problem changes.
