| As others said, don't spend more thinking you'll get longer life or better quality. Years ago, as our group was checking out of a hotel in Italy, one bag mysteriously 'disappeared' (we had paid for hotel staff to handle the bags). We were on our way to the airport, and they knew it. Once we made it clear that we were not leaving without it and were prepared to call police, they 'happened' to find it. It was the nicest, most expensive bag in the bunch...
A coupla tips: Tie a ribbon on it so you can easily identify your big black suitcase among all the other big black suitcases on the carousel. Bring along a luggage strap in case of a 'blowout'. Carried one for years and never needed it, but saw plenty of bags that did. Look for a long handle (they seem to be getting shorter and shorter) and the biggest wheels you can find. Also, you want the wheels set wide- an empty bag that handles fine in the store empty will have a very different CG when loaded.
