I use to work for a packer. in the 90's bacon was going to kill everyone because of cholesterol. I use to be able to buy the whole side of bacon (about 9 lbs.) for $3.00! Cured and smoked. All I had to do was slice it. It's value was just about low enough they were going to render it into dog food. Then everyone found out how good bacon is.
