Very well said. You will never get the response you are looking for here Rich. It's a JD vs Case thing or a ford vs Chevy debate. Have to see for yourself on your own farm. I will say this board is very biased for Liberty beans. I think they have ran all the extend guys off with all the negativety. Not sure how everyone knows exactly what this new chemical is going to do befor even seeing it used. As for me I want to spray weeds before they are emerged but I am 90% conventional. Start clean with a good residual as soon as the planter leaves the field followed by a another residual about 21-24 days later works well for me " here". Key is that I never want to be spraying an emerged weed.
I have adopted your philosophy on weed control as well.
I am planning a heavy burndown with overlapping residuals. Lots of scouting and spray weeds that do escape early and small!
Looking at the chemical plans anymore it looks like guys who can get a premium for conventional beans should take an honest look at doing so. The approach to weeds needs to be the same, and the chemical costs are going to be very close. |
