I hear the inflation justification too. I don't understand near what I need or want to, so someone please correct me if I am wrong. You still have to cash flow, regardless of inflation. The ones that inflation helps the most are the ones who are selling, if they bought low enough. So I guess I am saying if I or anybody else for that matter is struggling to make $5000 (just a number) land cash flow, what difference does it make if it is worth $10,000 unless you are selling it, other than fact it does keep the balance sheet looking OK. You still gotta cash flow. If you can pay cash for land, now that is a whole different ball of wax. I agree that land is a good investment in general. But you gotta be able to pay for it. Paul made an excellent point about land prices in the 80s and the ability to pay for it...
