Don't forget that in the 80's , crop production/yields were not what they are today . You have to look at the whole picture ( crop price , yield , interest rates etc. ) and not just one piece of it . Even with 80's crop prices and today's yields we have more gross dollars . That said cost to produce a crop has increased also .
