Why not Triticale? I tried some in one end of the drill seedbox to make a few test strips in some rye. It was a little slower to head out and a lot leafier. I put the cows on it as the rye was just starting to have visible heads and they ate the trit down to the ground before eating more than the top few inches of the rye.
