Macon, IL | I had 3 fields. All 3 different-and this year the determining factor was spray date. All 3 had cereal rye.
The field I sprayed at end of march-which I thought was way too early-the roundup smoked it. It took 30 days-but it got every blade. Weeds held back-it looks fantastic!
The last field I sprayed had to be sprayed 3 times. It is a trial spot-and I will say the area that had cover crop has far less weeds than the area that was straight no-till-even though sprayed the same. But it sure was hard to kill that rye.
Lesson I learned is spraying early! | |
