Dalton, OH

The grass the Big M is mowing in the pics is Orchardgrass made just as it was heading.  It yielded 3-4 tons per acre.  We sell it for horse hay and low potassium hay for dairies.  It also works for dry cow/heifer hay.  We get $150+ per ton for the stuff and we got 3 more cuttings of soft, high quality grass hay after that.

The arm on the loader is over the passenger side for safety.  If you were to open the door and it was on the drivers side it would be quite dnagerous.  The machine stops when the door is open, but it still wouldn't be good.  The bale never actually travels over the cab, but you can never be too safe.  Its really not hard at all to drive up to a bale as there are guides and an arm at the back the guide the bale into place.  Circle C equipment makes the truck and if you go to their website they probably have a video of it in operation.

We really don't have a lot of problems with the compaction and the truck.  If we have a really wet period, we can, but usually not.  We've talked about putting floater tires on it and may look into it for next year.  I will admit to getting it stuck a few times, but we've learned to go to the wet spots first when empty and finish up on the dry area.  Most of our fields are smaller(5-35 acres) and have multiple driveways so you try to work it out that you have a load near a drive.
