Forget about importing your own tech and formulating your own glyphosate, you cannot do a thing without complying with EPA regulations.
Companies like Monsanto do all they can to hinder generic pesticide companies. They do so by making importation, labeling, distribution, etc., expensive and difficult. Especially when the product is off patent.
Glyphosate has been off patent here since 2000. It should have been off patent since 1991, but Monsanto was successful in getting a serial patent, but only in the US. The result was we paid monopoly prices for glyphosate 9 years longer than our competitors.

And that's for 95% tech!
If Australian farmers are getting cheaper glyphosate than us, it is because they have a "farmers fighting fund" which isn't afraid to fight Monsanto when it wants to hide behind antidumping laws so it can overcharge for glyphosate.
In contrast, our farm organizations take money from Monsanto and will not do anything to upset their agribusiness benefactors. Unfortunately, this kind of thinking even influences our checkoffs, which should be looking into why we are being overcharged for off patent chemicals and should be doing all they can to promote generic competition.
Glyphosate isn't the only rip off, check out some of the other off patent chemicals.
