Subject: Quick Question on Feeding Cows

Breckenridge, MI
I've got a few cows at home that I'd like to put a touch more flesh on before calving in spring. I'm feeding them free choice hay behind one of those Z-bar panels (works great by the way) but I was wondering - the local elevator has sunflower oil for 50 cents a pound, if I were to take and lay my hay bales on edge (small squares) maybe a week before I feed them and put 1 lb of oil on each one if it would soak in good enough and if the cows would like it. I would just feed a little corn but I don't have a great way to do it.
