| To me the only reason you have given to tear it down is because it is located in the location that is best for a more functional building. This is an important reason. Do not build a new building in a less than desired location just to save an old obsolete barn. But remember there is value in 'Just a place to store junk'. Very few farms don't have 'junk', spare parts, used lumber, etc. An old barn is an excellent place to store these materials without congesting machine storage or taking up valuable shop space. My barn is in a location that would be good for a shop, but I also had other good choices. My barn has been well maintained and my father and I have invested in making it 'maintenance free' over the years as we've had the resources to do so. It is now for 'junk' storage, 4-H projects, lawn & garden equipment, old lumber, etc. all of which keeps the corners of my sheds available for machinery / tool storage.
