NCND | Just been reading a book, the big rich, about the original 4 big Texas oil fortunes. The hunt family is in the book and it goes into some detail about bunker hunt and the silver deal.
Quite interesting but the weirdest part about it all was that they used pay phones in waining minutes trying to stem the blood loss and close the silver market.
March 27 th 1980 the hunts had a 1 billion dollar margin call! Ouch!
The problems started when besides buying up all that silver the cftc ruled to limit positions. They were forced to sell and that started it all.
Anyone part of that or remener it? I'm sure it was different back them when info took so much longer to spread.
Anyone profit on run up? Take a beating?
Ironic and of note bunker died last Tuesday at 88.
He was a brother to Lamar hunt who named the Super Bowl the Super Bowl after starting the afl. Quite the story. | |
