Yes that is definitely another wrinkle. For now we keep yearlings and replacement heifers in a lot with feed panels really close to the location where the pit would likely be. only around 100 calves now, would just take scoops over with the loader to them. Feed the cows regular hay bales. And you flat nailed it for how we feed cows. Flatbed pickup with the big square bales on the back, flake it off by hand through the pasture. Would not work for the haylage. Long term a shift towards using something for feeding that would make it easier to mix in the haylage would be necessary I think. I do like the idea of blending in grain straw or grass seed straw with the haylage, we have plenty of that around to utilize too.
