NESD | The price of stover has risen quite a bit in the past few years. Several reasons, some being drought, some being education on what one loses when you harvest the stover. and some now just plain make it part of the feed ration with distillers grains. It would probably be at least twice the price you stated if not triple that. Hard to argue that it is high, there is value there. Just how much depends on each individual operation and how they plan to use it. Not much wheat grown around here anymore so that makes the straw market a little stronger.
I agree with you Proud2b. They are a good tool. I also agree that there is probably not much difference in most of them, they all work off the same basic principal. What I like about the piece of equipment is that I can directly see a value in it. It is frustrating sometimes to own equipment that you have to have but is hard to see value for the cost of it. | |
