Bullitt County Kentucky
Regardless of who likes it or who doesn't, NASCAR has become a big money sport. And as we all know, once you go big, it's damn near impossible to go back. With teams needing multi-million dollar sponsors to compete, there has to be some reasonable assurance for those sponsors that their investment won't end up on the hauler, headed back to the shop before race day ever gets there. That requires top points earners to be locked in.....like it or not.

There are a few rules that came into being by evolution of the sport. Such is the case of the "lucky dog" rule. Racing back to the caution light added a certain "danger" that fans loved. It makes for boring racing.

The new "cookie cutter" tracks make for boring racing.

And virtually eliminating any differences between cars makes for boring racing. The legends of the sport from the early days made their reputations by bending rules and "innovating". In todays world, Junior Johnson would be banned for life.

The sport "evolved".....into a boring sport. Now they're going to evolve it a little more.....into a MORE boring sport.

Think I'll start watching golf......or watch paint dry.
