| Isn't this type of system something like the "heat" system of local tracks, only on a larger scale? If you don't make the cut you don't race in the race that really matters. IDK we'll see how it actually works. I boycotted NASCAR after they screwed Truex last year and added Gordon. Didn't watch any of the races after that, and am not really even excited about this next season.
I do agree with your thoughts about how many of these tracks race anymore, just as well make some of the drafting tracks a 50 lap race. Its just a war of attrition, where its just oddball wrecks or equipment failures for the first 3 hours. Or better yet, have four 50 lap races with points awarded by position, instead of one 200 lap race. Something like the Budweiser shootout. Its freaking stupid to run laps for 3 hours and the only one that matter is the last 3. with the inevitable massive pileup exiting turn 4.
