But I was speaking in general terms and without looking at specifics it's impossible to say whether paying down debt will have a significant negative effect on working capital. Speaking strictly from my own experience I came from the " pay it down as fast as you can camp" but probably would have done it differently in hindsight. Granted its much easier to say that knowing now what rates would do. There is also a big difference between healthy and poisonous debt.The elevator business is probably what has changed my opinion on this. Working capital is what makes the wheels go round here. If things get wonky, as you put it, it's easier to leverage cash than what could then be depreciating assets.
