Rivers, MB | In a perfect free market world, demand for better infrastructure would be the motive for companies to see an opportunity. Unfortuantely, there is nothing free market about railway running rights on tracks that were built in the 1800's to settle our country. Paid for by the government I believe. And there is a huge lag time in building more infrastructure. And our demand for shipping capacity is not constant.
I looked at our numbers this am. I'm thankful that less than half of our grain that we grew this year is dependant on rail service to get it to the first user of it. Special crops and trucking directly to processor is a real benefit this year. | |
