Subject: Re: Labrador diagnosed with blastoplasmosis

My old lab got it 4 years ago when he was 8. We caught it late in the process and he lost his eye sight. We had him on antifungals (fluconazole) for a year. My sister is a vet and had seen 3 cases prior to my dog and he was the first to survive. She was adamant on the long run of antifungals because it can linger in tissues and come back later. He's been great since, just can't see anything. He would still run and chase a ball with a bell in it until his hearing went from old age. He is 12 now. So hopefully your dog will be fine with treatment.
