SC Montana where General Custer should've stopped
I tell you what though. If you have some fence around a field and a water souce nearby you never seen cows do so well after weaning the calves of. Leave the beets anchored in the ground and turn the cows loose. Back when they let the guys PIC a few fields ten or fifteen years ago we let about 600 head of mother cows in dec/jan eat the tops off some beets. I don't think we would have even needed a fence around that field, it was awesome to watch, cows did good. I don't think my Dad was suppose to be doing that but it didn't take long to clean the foliage off.
