Why would a 100HP well take 4.5 times more electricity than 80HP?

Resistance in a centrifugal pump is not linear, but more akin to a J-curve exponential difference.

Kind of the same reason a 200 HP automobile can do 100 MPH, but 400 HP in the same car cannot achieve 200 MPH...
